Betrayal found it's way to her, in her complacency she did not see.
She tried to trust again and failed, for trust came not easily to she.
Her face it turned away from him, and to her surprise found the eyes of a dear friend.
She did not leap, she did not jump, she stood and stared and pondered, her mind now far above her heart you see.
He had been there, a laugh over dinner, a practicality in the face of her too powerful emotions.
He had made her happy, made her smile.
But never before had she let herself feel anything more for he.
For she gave the other her loyalty, her complacency.
But at the other's betrayal she fell, fell to the love of her friend all unbeknownst to she.
But her complacency plagued her, this time, she would not trust so easily.
This time she vowed, not a fool would she be.
But in the end, she slipped from the other, her heart knowing she must be free.
She still cared for him, but never again could she find the trust that she might give to he.
Gently she left, still caring, still a friend.
She wated, she watched, then she let her heart open just a breath
In the end, it was she who came to her companion.
She told him how she felt, how she had fallen for him.
He, like her, did not leap, for it needed to be right.
He would give his heart to only one all his life.
He would only lay with one at night.
But in the end they came together, still friends but so much more.
He chose her to be that only one.
How strange is it that loyalty once hid him.
For now it is he that fills her mind, him only she can see.
I guess it's true that the one you love
should be your best of friends.
The one to whom you can speak of anything.
The one who makes you laugh,
with whom you are comfortable enough to sing.
A life's companion or so she hopes.
The one with whom love is so many things.
I like it.
I like it too. I am looking for a lover who can be my best friend as well. I know it's a lot to ask, but I haven't given up yet. I am hiding a bit now, but starting to slowly come out again.
